Collecting Supply Chain Sustainability Data – Where To Start?

23 September 2016

Stakeholder pressure from investors, shareholders, customers and nonprofits to push sustainability into the supply chain has significantly increased in recent years, and, at some point, all companies will be asked to report on their supply chain sustainability performance. Few companies, however, have a robust strategy and technique for gathering supply chain data on social and environmental issues. Collecting data in a complex supply chain is difficult, especially when there is little understanding of the most current and pressing global impacts.

On September 29, Anthesis will talk about supply chain data gathering techniques for sustainability reporting during a workshop hosted by The Sustainability Consortium (TSC). The workshop is one of six webinars in the Implementation Workshop Series, with the purpose to provide a forum for discussing how TSC tools and services can help users connect with supply network partners, set organizational goals, and measure progress against those goals in order to improve product sustainability for the consumer-goods industry. During the workshop, called “Supply Chain Integration”, Anthesis will share our experience and methodology in assisting companies gather and report sustainability data. Topics will include supply chain mapping, supplier communication and education, data collection tools, analysis and reporting.

As mentioned in our previous post on measuring sustainability impacts, TSC is working towards creating a consumer-goods ecosystem that is sustainable using a common approach to measuring and tracking the product sustainability of $1 trillion of retailer sales over the next five years.

As a TSC certified service provider, Anthesis has the knowledge and expertise necessary to help retailers and suppliers to measure and improve on their social and environmental performance.
