Organizations are experiencing increasing pressure to transition to more sustainable business models, and an environmental management system (EMS) can help to support this. Our team of dedicated specialists has significant expertise in advising public and private sector clients in the development, implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of environmental management systems, typically with the objective of achieving ISO 14001 certification.
ISO 14001:2015 – what’s changed?
The recent changes to the ISO 14001 standard offer some interesting opportunities for organizations to demonstrate their commitment to improving environmental performance and align these efforts more closely to the core governance of the business. These changes include:
- Greater demonstration of top management leadership and commitment
- Enhanced understanding of the long term positive and negative environmental impacts of the organization’s activities
- A more risk and opportunity-based approach
- Greater adoption of a lifecycle perspective on all products and services throughout the supply chain Enhanced monitoring and measurement
Companies have until September 2018 to transition across to the new version of the standard.
