Today see’s the publication of the “Quantification of food surplus waste and related materials in the grocery supply chain”, a report commissioned by WRAP in response to a Ministerial roundtable on food surplus in held in January 2015. Dr Julian Parfitt of Anthesis said “We welcome the publication of this pioneering report: the first in the UK to provide detailed sub-sector estimates of food waste prevention opportunities, food surplus and waste arisings across the grocery supply chain.”

In supporting the delivery of this project, Anthesis has developed robust and innovative approaches to evidence gathering, resulting in important new findings for all segments of the grocery supply chain.  The outputs from the work indicate the scale of opportunity for WRAP’s future work, under Courtauld 2025, to help businesses to realise: cost savings, prevent waste and add social value through redistribution.
