Running a Workshop for B&Q's CSR Team

12 December 2014

B&Q is the largest home improvement and garden center retailer in the UK. Anthesis (then trading as M4C) ran a one day workshop for B&Q's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team, developing a program that was targeted, engaging, thought-provoking and relevant to all attendees. The purpose of the day was to provide context for the company's CSR program - from legislation and standards to ethical dilemmas - to increase the team's knowledge and inspire them and their CSR strategy.

The workshop gave an overview of the challenges sustainability professionals face including legislation, ethics, management systems, reporting and even what to call ‘it’ – CSR, CR, Sustainability, Creating Shared Value, Responsible Sustainability … or something else!

The workshop was so successful we have repeated it for staff who have recently taken up roles in the sustainability team at Kingfisher (the owners of B&Q).

Matt Sexton, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility at B&Q, said:

“Anthesis (then trading as M4C) had a friendly and knowledgeable approach and understood what we were trying to achieve … The strategy encompassed the key themes we wanted to communicate and the tools and techniques we felt would deliver sustainable results, with time bound milestones to highlight our progress.”
